Valenzuela Ready for Clean Elections Debate, Disappointed as Opponent Declines to Participate
Phoenix, AZ — Tonight, voters in Maricopa County District 3 will hear from Daniel Valenzuela in a debate hosted by the Arizona Clean Elections Commission. Unfortunately, his opponent, Kate Brophy McGee, has declined to participate despite being given ample notice and opportunity to engage.
“Debates are vital for informed voting, especially when substantive discussions matter most,” Valenzuela said. “It’s disappointing that my opponent has consistently chosen not to engage on key issues affecting our community.”
The debate would have allowed voters to compare the candidates’ records and visions on important topics like public safety, economic development, and affordable housing—areas where Valenzuela’s experience as a former Phoenix City Council member and retired firefighter stands out. Unlike his opponent, Valenzuela has also been clear on his support for women’s reproductive rights and confidence in the integrity of the 2020 and 2022 elections.
“These are questions I hear often across District 3,” Valenzuela said. “I fully support a woman’s right to choose and am confident in the verified results of recent elections.”
For Valenzuela, tonight is an opportunity to show his commitment to transparency and leadership as Maricopa County continues its rapid growth.
“District 3 voters deserve to know where we stand and how our plans for the future differ. I’m ready to discuss my record and vision for safe communities, a strong economy, and a thriving democracy for Maricopa County,” he said.
While Valenzuela remains hopeful for future debates, tonight’s event will offer voters the chance to hear directly from him. Tune in on the Arizona Clean Elections Commission’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@AZCCEC
