Cancer is the leading cause of death among firefighters. As Chairwoman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, then-Senator Kate Brophy McGee had an opportunity to support firefighters battling cancer who were caught in bureaucratic red tape. Instead of providing the help they needed, Kate Brophy McGee turned her back on these men and women and opposed them at every step.

Daniel Valenzuela, candidate for Maricopa County Supervisor, District 3, expressed disappointment over his opponent Kate Brophy McGee's decision to decline the invitation for the Clean Elections' General Election Debate for Maricopa County District 3 Supervisor candidates, scheduled for September 12. Valenzuela believes this choice deprives voters of a crucial opportunity to understand the candidates' positions on important issues.

Arizona’s residents should not be subjected to this extreme politics. It is time that we as all Arizonans, irrespective of party affiliation, stand up and fight for a woman’s entitlement to essential, basic or life-saving medical care, transcending the divisive realm of extreme anti-choice policies.
